CAUSE: Cookie is My Third Stray

After almost five months, I decided to keep Cookie to accompany Puffin. Puffin is too lonely and she needs a companion anyway. Although, both of them give me a headache sometimes but, they are my happy pills when I feel down or overwhelmed by everything around me. Cookie is such a playful puppy. She always calls me out to play with her and while doing that she will always have the toy in her mouth. That is why I always allow both of them to play together at least once a day. We don't have a big compound but it is just enough for them to run around.

The photo was taken on August, 13.

Based on my reading, puberty (or sexual maturity) in dogs on average is when they reached about six months of age, but this can vary by breed. Since Cookie is a smaller breed so that is why she had her first estrous cycle at an earlier age. Meanwhile, large and giant breeds may not come into heat for the first time until they reach eighteen months to two years of age. Thus, I think she is about 6 months old now. While she had her first menstrual cycle now, she is more clingy and wants to be pampered.

Actually, I plan to spay her early this month but something came up and I could not send her to the vet. Hopefully, I can do that after her menstrual cycle is over. It worries me when male dogs start to visit our house and are interested to mate with her.

CAUSE: Rescue Another Puppy

Having breakfast this morning.

One after another, a new stray puppy attracts me (or I may say I am drawn to them?). This puppy, I named her Cookie. She was staying outside of the house in my neighbourhood. I thought she belonged to them until one of the neighbours told me she does not belong to anyone. No wonder I saw the house where she always stayed put up a wire mesh on their house gates to prevent her entry to their house compound.

Every time we passed by that house, Puffin stopped and wanted to play with Cookie. Cookie also responded to Puffin, and they played chase and run, and I let them do that for a few minutes two days a row. So I decided to take her home yesterday evening because I feared she would be hit by a car. After all, sometimes, they drove fast in this lane.

Comfortable in her bed.

I gave her a bath, dried her fur, fed and played with her for a few minutes until she was comfortable with the surroundings of my house. Then I show her the bed, and she follows my instructions to lie on the bed. I left her alone, and she slept soundly until morning without crying or barking for me.

I fed her again this morning and let her do her business before giving her toys so she would learn to differentiate between toys and my other belongings. Hope for the best, and she is just doing fine when I return from work this evening. I am aware puppy is always a puppy.

I hope, i will find a kind hearted person to give her a Forever Home!

CAUSE: Stray Puppies Found a Forever Home

I went to buy a butter bun nearby my house and saw two cute puppies running toward me. They are just two adorable puppies that are playful and not afraid of things around them yet. They ran and played and stopped when I called them. The brown puppy I named Brownie and the black puppy I called Blackie. I have never seen them in that area since I am a regular bakery customer.

I briefly chatted with the hair saloon staff next to the shop where they both stayed, and she told me they are strays except for Blackie. So I went there again yesterday and chatted with the shop owner, who explained the situation to me. When Brownie came, she was with one other male puppy, but after a while, the male puppy disappeared and left her alone. Meanwhile, Blackie has four siblings, and three were adopted by one kind guy and left Blackie with one of his siblings. However, the other died and left him alone. Then, Blackie made friends with Brownie.

After speaking to the shop owner, she agreed to let me help Brownie to find a forever home. Brownie shows her obedience when she listens to my command. I posted their naughty and playful video on my Facebook, and one of my friends contacted me. She is willing to adopt her and give her love and a home. I am delighted! Brownie will have a home! Here below is Brownie when we first met this week. I am thankful and grateful to God that she will have a forever home soon!
