On December, 12 last year i placed an order on Shopee. It was year end promotion and i get a good price for Keen's sandals. After discount, the price drop to RM381.65 which the normal price was RM449.00. I think it is worth value for money. 

I was looking for a good quality of sandal for my hiking especially when i have to walk in river or streams. It has been a while but i could not find one that i like and i keep asking opinions from my friends. Then, one of my friend mentioned about Keen sandals to me. She recommend the brand based on her own experienced. After searching for different suppliers online i decide to purchase from Shopee because the shop is located in Kuala Lumpur and i have rebate for shipping too. At the end, this sandal cost me RM356.65. 

If i would like to review on my purchase using Shopee, the only weakness is the delay in courier service. It was supposed to be delivered on December, 15 but i only received my parcel on January, 4. There were no reason given by the supplier but i just assume it is all due to the pandemic situation and holidays. The packaging is great and my item is in very good condition.

When i want to select my size, there is only size US36, US37 and US38. They do not have US37.5. So, i just gamble and pick size US38. I am glad that it just fit me nicely. 

It fit me nicely. 

However, i could not share with you guys how was it in the field. I did not have a chance to test it yet due to the conditions now. We plan for a hike on January, 9 but we cancelled our plan due to CMCO and our town became red zone again. I hope i can go for a hike soon and let you guys know how it goes. Till then.

Mount Kinabalu Tragedy 2014

When i am up on the summit last year, i was struggling to get my best shot on the Low's Peak along with the signboard to mark that i was there, up on the top of Mount Kinabalu. There are more than 100 climbers climb everyday so you can imagine how crowded it is on the top by the time of 6 - 7 am. The space is also very limited and on the other side is the Low's Gully. The view is amazing and breathtaking but at the same time, it is very dangerous steep rocky down to the gully.

I saw a very saddening news today in one of the group in FB, Beautiful Mount Kinabalu. Through the update in that group i get to know one German lady fall down to the gully early today. There is no recent news in any newspaper that i found but i get also updates from he Mount Kinabalu page. Here is the 1st and 2nd updates.

Update at 10am this morning: A 22 year old German woman, fell into Low's Gully from Low's Peak summit early this morning at Mount Kinabalu. Witnesses claimed that the lady went beyond the safety railings while trying to take pictures and slipped when she stepped on loose rocks. Sabah Parks rangers and Amazing Borneo mountain guides are assisting in the on-going search. Although the weather is cloudy with low visibility, the rescue team is trying their best to locate her. She was part of a mixed group of self-arranged climbers. We hope for the best and will update the situation further once we have more information. 

There are a lots of comments asking how is the current situation. So, i look at that page and the climber's body was found dead.

Update at 3pm: The body of the 22 years old German climber has been found some 100 metres down Low's Gully. She is identified as Ms Paulsen. Rescue rangers had to go through 8.5 km mark and passed steep rocky steps in order to retrieve her body. The victim fell into Low's Gully from Low's Peak summit early this morning at Mount Kinabalu. Witnesses claimed that she went beyond the safety railings while trying to take pictures and slipped when she stepped on loose rocks. Her accompanying friend on this trip is currently traumatized and lost for words. We are deeply saddened by this mishap and we wish to send our deepest condolences to Ms Paulsen's family and friends. This is the first fatal accident of Mount Kinabalu for 2014, and we urge all climbers to be more vigilant and exercise caution at all times.

Whatever it is, RIP to the family of this girl. May her soul rest in peace and for us, let takes this as our lesson. Always make our safety is the prime priority when we climb up the mountain or any challenging outdoors activity.Always think about our own safety.
