HOBBY: Crochet Newborn Beanie and Booties

I pick up this hobby about two or three years ago. It begin when i want to explore new things and wondering if i have any talent to knit or crochet. I watch quite a lot of online tutorial on YouTube and pick up from there. I try to knit but I did not success with this two needle thing but i did well with one needle. Therefore, i decide to continue my project using crochet method. My first project was a beanie of hat. I successfully made a few hats and i gave them to my mum and friends. I think my mum have a bout three of my beanies. She loved it a lot. She use it when she went for her hospital appointments or sleep at night, whenever she feel cold.

Starting point for baby beanie

End of last month, my best-friend asked me if i can make a beanie for her newborn. She is expecting her third child on 1st April 2021. As usual i am excited with this new project and i decided to learn to make baby booties as well. My first try looks not neat but it still looks fine. But i love the second one.

Making the base of baby booties

Here is the two set of baby beanie and booties that i made for my best-friend. I sent this parcel to her yesterday and i hope she will get it on time before her due date.

Baby beanies and booties made by me

I pray for her safe Caesarean section with no complications. May her baby and herself is safe and in God protection. Amen.

Traditional Clay Beads Earrings (Again!)

It has been a while i didn't update this blog. The same reason, i am too lazy to write and my limited access to the internet via desktop. I am not feeling comfortable and i don't really like to post using my smartphone. The screen is too small and the mobile application is okay but still i am not a  fan of it yet.

So, i was learning DIY earrings again and as usual Pinterest helps me to get my brain works on its creativity part. I have many supplies now, from different types of pins, beads, wires, rings, and so on but my creativity is limited. So, i was browsing though my Pinterest account and found many amazing designs and some are very complicated for me to try and some are pretty easy.

Since i also have about a metre of leather line so i decided to try to make a simple one based on the ideas i get from Pinterest. As you can see, the picture shows a few example of the pearl and leather earrings, so that is my basis.

Taken from my Pin Board on my Pinterest account
Tada...!.. This is finally what i made. I know, i know.. its not looks that amazing but i am happy that finally i can combine these leather and traditional clay beads. It still looks great for my ears.. Ha ha...

Till i make more of this and i sell it out... I must have a dreams.. (^___^)

RoseRagai Rosario Project 2012

Do what you love. So, i did this because i love making Rosaries. Here is my collection and most of it already have its owner. May all of them be blessed and they use this Rosary to pray to Mother Mary our mother.

Red #001 -- already with Sr. Angela.

Brown #001 -- booked by my friend Nory.

Purple #002 -- already with my friend Mary.

Light Purple #001 -- Aunt Elizabeth asked me to make
this for her. She provide me with beads, cross and
center piece.

Light Green #001 -- This is also Aunt's.

Green Cat'sEye #001 -- Booked by my friend Nory.
I made some more and actually there are two more rosaries in need to make. My friend asked me to make for them. I also teach  my friends that interested to make on their own. Am i happy? Yes of course. This is what i did when i am at home, when nothing else i can do.

Another Beads Collection

Recently my friend ask my help to prepare a door gift for her wedding. I am not sure what she wanted but she seems to be interested with my beads work. I am still an amateur or beginner i may say. So, my creativity is very limited. I still need to refer to others hand work to stimulate ideas. Huh... not an easy one hey!

So, we manage to come up with this beading crafts. It is tea spoon made from palm bark (not sure which types of palm is this). She actually wanted to make a book mark with beads as the accessories for it but she can't find the book mark holder. So, here is our hand work. We manage to finish up 150 pcs. She is a fast learner and now she can make brooch herself and she really work hard to sharpen her skills. Happy for her!

Along the way, i manage to create this design. Ha ha ha... Not so creative but still, this pop up in my mind. So, here is my earrings beads again!

Being Creative - Reduce Plastics

End of January visit to one of the village is very interesting (finding on new things always interesting one-lah) to me. Why? This is my first encounter of handicrafts made from plastics by the local villagers. I used to see crafts made from used papers such as newspaper, magazines catalog etc but never really seen one made from shopping plastic bags my own eye. So this is kindda interesting ya.

Plastic Shopping Bags (Photo credit: Google)
Then, we hear, seen and even involved in REDUCE PLASTIC BAGS CAMPAIGN all over the world. GO GREEN CAMPAIGN etc. So, this made me more interested with this innovative and creative crafts.

Reduce things like this to happen.

So, here are two photos of the handicrafts that made by our local villagers. Quite pretty right?!

What do you think?

Rose Ragai Earrings Project - Part 2

It has been a while, i did not produce any earrings right? Hmmm... it is due to my work loads and i don't have materials to produce different design or type of beads. I was having a meeting at KK on Friday so i have a chance to buy some new materials. I am still new to this crafts so, i am not good in selecting beads and other materials for producing earrings. Besides, it was so difficult to find the right shop with varieties of materials and worth buying. There was one at Wisma Merdeka but it is very expensive, another one at Sinsuran and it is expensive too. A friend told me there is another shop at Segama street, so i found two shops last Friday. The price is just okay and cheaper from the other two but not many choices. With the new beads, i produce another nine design of earrings but still very basic and simple. He he he.. I am still a beginner okay! Here it is.

Okay that is all nine of my new inventions. Ha ha ha... Just an ordinary one because still i don't have any addition to my materials. Any suggestions? Comments and advice for a beginner like me? Till then!

Top Spin Souvenior

I did mention about souveniors for the invited speakers in my previous post Saturday Morning. I also promise i will share about it in my next post. Here it is.

On Saturday morning, Pak Cik Hamit can not finish all 11 pieces of top spin so he asks me to collect it on Sunday morning. After church on Sunday, my friend and i went to his house and collect all 11 pieces with six different types/ shape of top spin. Actually it is for pen holder with top spin on it. All six design/ shape have its own uniqueness with different names. See by yourself and you will amazed by his creativity and amazing hand work.

Gasing Languai
The shape of one species of wild fruit that can be found
in the deep forest.
Gasing Kebangsaan (National Top Spin)
This is called national top spin because it can be played by all
Malaysian whether they are in Peninsular, Sabah or Sarawak.
Gasing Pidada
The design is follow the shape of one wild fruits that can
be found near the swampy river.
Gasing Tajau
This is follow the shape of "tajau". Tajau is the big
traditional ceramic "pot".
Gasing Anggau
I am not sure what language is this but it maybe
Kedayan language which means high.
I am sorry if i get this one wrong.
Gasing Labu
Follow the shape of pumpkin.
This is cost me only RM17.00 each. Quite an affordable and worth price to buy. He manage his business from home and it is called Hj. Hamit Souvenir. Malaysian Craft is in process of helping him to develop his business. I am happy for him because there is government agencies willing to help him out. Now he have his own trading license for him to sell all his products.

I always wish him the best because he is so down to earth and always share his experiences and knowledge with us. I am grateful that i have a chance to get to know him. Actually, we did help him a little bit to introduce his product to Malaysian Craft and it is the right channel to promote his product up to international level.

Till then!
